Tour Scotland Video Gavin Munro Brown Eyed Girl Greyfriars Bar Perth Perthshire

Tour Scotland video of Gavin Munro singing a cover version of Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison in the Greyfriars Bar on visit to Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. Greyfriars Bar Open Mic night is one of the longest running and best known open mic sessions in Scotland. Written and recorded in 1967 by Van Morrison and produced by Bang Records chief Bert Berns, it was first released in May 1967 on the album Blowin' Your Mind !. When released as a single, it rose to number eight on the Cashbox charts, and reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100. It featured the Sweet Inspirations singing back-up vocals and is widely considered to be Van Morrison's signature song. Open Mic night is one of the longest running and best known open mic sessions in Scotland.

In the UK, just under half of the population spend money on Valentines Day on cards, flowers, chocolates and other gifts, with an estimated 25 million cards being sent. In Wales, some people celebrate Dydd Santes Dwynwen, St Dwynwen's Day, on January 25 instead of, or as well as, Valentine's Day. The day commemorates St Dwynwen, the patron saint of Welsh lovers.

Victoria Sandwich Cake or Victoria Sponge as its also known is a classic cake served with afternoon tea in Scotland. It is a favourite in tea rooms all around Britain and a must for tea time which is typically served around 2pm to 4pm, where hot tea is served with classic cakes and petite sandwiches, a great British tradition.

Tour Scotland Video Katie Whittaker Travelin' Soldier Twa Tams Perth Perthshire

Tour Scotland video of Katie Whittaker singing a cover version of Travelin' Soldier on visit to The Twa Tams in Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. Katie is the wonderful female vocalist from Red Pine Timber Co. Travelin' Soldier is a song written and originally recorded by American country music artist Bruce Robison in 1996 and again, in rewritten form, in 1999. It was later recorded by Ty England on his 1999 album, Highways & Dance Halls. The first rendition to be issued as a single was by the Dixie Chicks. The song is a tale about a shy, lonesome, young American soldier who strikes up a conversation and later a correspondence with a high school girl during the Vietnam War era.

Katie is the wonderful female vocalist from Red Pine Timber Co. You Got the Love is a 1986 single by Candi Staton. It was then remixed by The Source and re-released in 1991 as The Source and Candi Staton. In 2008, the song was covered by English soul singer Joss Stone for her fourth studio album, Colour Me Free!, released in October 2009. In November 2009, another cover version was released as a single by English indie rock band Florence and the Machine.

Old Photographs Slateford Scotland

Old photograph of Slateford in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is east of the Water of Leith. The former village of Slateford lies on the Lanark Road where it crosses the Water of Leith south west of Slateford Station. The name Slateford comes from local rock found in the area and the old fording point on the Water of Leith that the village grew round. In 1882 it had a post office with money order savings bank and telegraph departments, a Police Station, a Good Templars Hall, School, U.P. Church and the extensive bleachfields of Inglis Green. The village was crossed by the Union Canal Slateford Aqueduct in 1822 and a few years later the 14 arch viaduct carrying the Caledonian railway line. The situe of the Canal, Road and Rail bridges capture all three modes of transport together still to this day.
