Tour St Monans East Neuk Of Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland video of St Monans, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. St Monans, often spelt St Monance, is named after the legendary Saint Monan. This small picturesque community, whose inhabitants formerly made their living mainly from fishing, is now both a tourist destination situated on the Fife Coastal Path, and a close knit community with much vitality and vibrancy. The former burgh rests on a hill overlooking the Firth of Forth, with views to North Berwick, the Bass Rock and the Isle of May. St Monans contains many historical buildings, most notably the now defunct windmill, and a 14th century church that sits on the rocks above the water on the western side

St Andrews. The Home of Golf. This is a lavish, full-colour exploration of the Scottish town whose name is synonymous with golf. St Andrews - once Scotland's greatest city, the cradle of its religion and the birthplace of its first university; today the ancient burg is known the world over as the spiritual home of golf, a place that evokes images of windswept seaside links and legendary golfing champions. "St Andrews: The Home of Golf" celebrates this unique haven of the game through striking pictures by renowned golf photographer Kevin Murray, while the authors' blend of history, personal observations and anecdotes distills centuries of golfing tradition into lively, atmospheric prose. Combined, they capture the immortal nature of all that is best about golf embodied in one of its most important and beautiful locations. As the Open Championship returns to St Andrews in 2010, "St Andrews: The Home of Golf" marks the 150th anniversary of golf's oldest and most prestigious tournament with a lavish visual journey along the medieval city's bustling cobbled streets, through the doors of many prestigious golf clubs residing within its venerable greystone walls, and around each one of St Andrews' several great courses - from the famous Old Course to the stunning new Castle Course. Tour Scotland Photograph Parish Church Kingsbarns Fife

Tour Scotland photograph of the Church in Kingsbarns, Fife, Scotland. This Scottish Church was built around 1630, receiving substantial alterations between 1810 and 1811 at the hand of Robert Balfour. The church faces south towards The Square, the central focus of the village of Kingsbarns. It is located within a graveyard cemetery, which is surrounded by a substantial coped wall. The church itself is built on a T plan with a south tower and west porch. The body of the church is harled with a Scottish slate roof. The harling is degrading on all faces of the building, revealing rough courses of squared sandstone and some interesting rough snecking on the north elevation of the main cell. The tower is built from ashlar and is capped by a spire with alternating bands of square and fishscale slate.

The Stone of Destiny: In Search of the Truth is the first book to explore the reasons behind the theft of the Stone of Scone in 1296 by King Edward I of England and to examine the validity of the myths and legends associated with its origins. It is widely believed that the stone taken to Westminster Abbey and returned to Scotland in 1996 was the Covenant Stone of the Israelites, also known as Jacob's Pillow, which was carried to Spain by the Egyptian Princess Scotia before being moved to Ireland and subsequently to Scotland, and used as the Coronation Seat of the early Scottish kings. The authors examine the political situation between the various kingdoms of Britain and the Church of Rome during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, and how very real the threat of another European crusade, like the Albigensian Crusade, must have been felt in Scotland. Also explored are the many theories about the authenticity of the stone now on display in Edinburgh Castle and whether this is the Palladium of Scotland that Edward intended to take, or whether there is another artifact that can make sounder claims to being the genuine Coronation Stone. The Stone of Destiny: In Search of the Truth.
